First proper experience of VR…

So a friend organised for eight of us to go to an Escape room venue that also hosted VR games.

I really liked the fact that you had a laptop on as a backpack that gave you the freedom to move around the room without cables trailing around. It really helped with the immersion. The game its-self had fairly average puzzles to work out (or our team found them average as we took only 30mins) but the usage of lifts and teleports really made the game feel expansive as the other two players in your four-person team would suddenly be away on another platform or completely removed from vision while they worked on puzzles in another room via those transport mechanisms.

It was also fun at the end when you finished and ended up at a beach bar with an archery range and as a team had to get a high score shooting balloons, that was a nice touch while you waited for the other team. I think we got a top 6 score for that.

So essentially, I highly recommend going and trying it out! We paid around £30 per person for the experience.

This blog has gone unloved!

Its been a long while since i posted something here.

Between work, raising a child and using what little time I have to do DIY / personal projects, its left very little time for things like this. So here are some short updates for anyone that cares!

The Expanse is amazing and me and my partner are slowly working are way through it!

If you knew me a few years ago I changed my tech gadgets like people change their clothes… These days i’ve been rocking the same phone since the OnePlus 3 came out and finnally gave in and got the OnePlus 6! Its really good! I want to say especially for the price but that sounds like it takes something away from it. Honestly, if you have a 2+ year old phone then it’s an amazing choice!  The camera takes very nice shots and the 4k video capabilities are decent. The main selling points for me were the options of 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage! Nothing comes close without selling a kidney!

Took my daughter swimming the day before fathers day. She loved going underwater as a baby, not so much as a toddler! Still, she enjoyed it by midway through the session and was even jumping into the pool from the edge as long as I was there with arms out to catch her!

I also upgraded the road bike slightly with some new cageless bottles which are very nice! Next up is a WeeRide front child seat for the MTB.

My jokey test site I use to playing around with features at work is coming along also. I’ve even had some submissions! Check out: https://www.catsonrouters.com and give it a FB/ Twitter like if you want.

Why didn’t I do this sooner?! I purchased a straight edge razor!

I’ve been lazier recently when it comes to shaving. Or maybe its just parenthood but I finally gave up dealing with “safety” razors. I spend so long trying to clean them out that it’s a hugely frustrating experience.  Enter this:

Looks nice. Cuts well and has a protective cover. Blades are dirt cheap to buy in comparison as well. Shaving now no longer takes 40+ minutes if you’ve gone 4+ days without a shave! Definitely, recommend switching! Although I will admit I don’t think I’ve ever cut myself shaving until today. So do take it easy and use with foam/shaving balm!
